M.Arch Thesis Project 2020

Professors: Anne-Catrin Schultz, Chala Hadimi, Dan Hizel

The act of immigration is sometimes caused by unknown or underlying causes, but those who are part of it have to live and adapt to different environments while preserving and sharing their own culture.

This thesis project focuses on creating a culture center for Filipino Americans in the Filipino-dense city of Daly City, California. The goal of this thesis is to establish a design that utilizes a cultural artifact as a design tool to create a place of representation, cultural growth, and protection while being inclusive with the local community.
